American video game developer and esports tournament organizer Riot Games is busy updating its popular MOBA game League of Legends and is mainly focusing on recreating the characters. Recently, players saw how Mordekaiser underwent a complete metamorphosis. Now it’s finally Pantheon’s turn for rework.

The players of League of Legends have the opportunity to say goodbye to the current Pantheon for a little while longer. Riot Games, the developer behind League of Legends, has announced that the character has been completely overhauled. For example, the appearance of the character has been adjusted so that it is again in line with the contemporary standard of the game.

The powers of the character have also been modernized, in order to arouse the interest of newer players. But Pantheon also remains interesting for the old players, according to the developers.

For example, Riot Games emphasizes that during the ‘rework’ of Pantheon, an account was taken of what players now like about the character. See below how the champion designers at Riot Games worked:

It is not yet known when the updated Pantheon will become playable in League of Legends.

League of Legends was well-received when it released in 2009 and has since increased in reputation, with an ongoing and widespread fanbase. By July 2012, League of Legends was the most played PC game in North America and Europe in terms of the number of hours played.

In January 2014, over 67 million people played League of Legends per month, 27 million per day, and over 7.5 million concurrently during peak hours. The title has among the largest footprints of any game in streaming media communities on platforms such as YouTube and Twitch.

It regularly ranks first in the most-watched hours. In September 2016, the company estimated that there are over 100 million active players each month.
